Biography

e: alecpmoore at gmail dot com

I am a visual artist working predominately with photography, moving image and sound in my practice. My work explores and draws from our relationship to place, physical and sociological, historical and contemporary, examining how history, identity, class and power shape the landscapes we inhabit. I am interested in how personal, collective and political histories intersect, tracing the ways in which displacement, ownership and belonging are embedded in place. My image making practice is rooted in craft, often using traditional film, and making silver prints mediums and zines. These processes allow me to engage with the materiality of photography, considering the physical presence of the work. Alongside my personal practice, I work as a freelance photographer, videographer, editor and educator.
